The Mountain Institute works with deep respect for mountain people, and traditional culture and knowledge, to strengthen community capacity to both live off, and protect the natural resource base where the live. TMI works in the Appalachian (Oldest), the Andes (Longest), and the Himalaya (the tallest) mountains of the work, closely with mountain people to find ways to sustainability improve livelihoods, safety, prosperity, and opportunities.
